Childhood can be a wonderful part of our lives. It is a time of immense growth and learning. Each new challenge your child overcomes helps build their character and self esteem. Sometimes stress is too great for the child’s resources to deal with. Some kids are just naturally better at handling stress than others. Kinesiology sessions may improve your childs ability to deal with stress.

A child who is experiencing high stress levels often has trouble focusing and learning. Allergies and nutrient deficiencies also effect our ability to learn, by placing other stresses on the body’s ability to cope.

Every experience in your life has some effect upon you. Starting from the time you were in your mother’s womb to the moment you are reading this. Things that can effect childrens’ learning and growing include:

  • a stressful pregnancy
  • a traumatic birth
  • medications and operations
  • accidents
  • family trauma, relationship difficulties, blended families, sibling rivalry
  • allergic reactions, toxic overload, nutritional deficiencies,

Any or all of these things can cause distress to your child. Kinesiology identifies the significant issues in your child’s life and provides real solutions and healing for them. Why one person handles stress better than another is a bit of a mystery to us all. Kinesiology gives you and your child the opportunity to change the way you handle stress in your life and for you to both enjoy this very precious time of their childhood.

When relevant, Anne will teach you and your child simple activities to improve brain integration, co-ordination, help relieve emotional distress, activities that calm and heaps more. These activities were part of her studies learning PKP kinesiology. Many of these activites are also included in other modalities of kinesiology including Brain Gym and Edu-K.

Anger Management Learning difficulties Clumsiness

What ages benefit from kinesiology?

Anne has worked with children of all ages from new borns to teenagers and young adults. Testing of young children requires the assistance of the parent. Older children are able to be muscle tested themselves. Mum or Dad stays present in the room throughout the session. An individual session follows the same protocol as a normal Kinesiology consultation.

Working with children is particularly challenging and rewarding as we spend time helping the child identify their own stress and affirm the parts of their lives that they love. At the same time, Anne checks in with the parent’s concerns regarding the child’s health and behaviour issues. The resulting session has the child working towards want they want in life, and together we are helping them to achieve a healthy balance.

I truly believe that children are not naughty and certainly not bad. They are merely behaving in a way to get us to take notice and help them grow, change, develop and mature. Sometimes they require tough love … sometimes they simply need their brains to work in an integrated manner. Have you ever tried to think when you’ve been in an “off-your-head” state? Parents are often moved to tears as they watch their child deal with painful emotions and situations that life throws at them. Your job as a parent is not to protect them from that pain, but to walk beside them, letting them know you are there if they need. You are to be their advocate, especially when the people around them behave in unjust or irrational ways (including their parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers and friends).

At Empowering Health we have been working with a number of families over the last few years. It is a real privilege to watch these children grow up, some we have worked with since birth. The children only come occasionally (perhaps every 6 months or so) but they have learned to recognise when kinesiology would be helpful for them. Though they don’t really understand the process, they do know how they feel. They report feeling more relaxed and happy.

What constantly amazes me is that kids generally accept healing as soon as it’s offered (adults usually put up all kinds of defences that I rarely see in children). This means that once they have become comfortable with the process, healing follows with relative ease.

How many and how often are sessions needed?

Each child is unique with their story. As a guide you can expect to come to 3 sessions over 9 weeks. This will enable you time to implement the changes your child needs in their life, and follow up sessions to assess how those changes are going. It is normally recommended to return 2-3 months after your program for a single session follow-up.

This is not just another parenting program. Kinesiology deals with the blocks that prevent your child from learning and growing the way a “normal” (unstressed) child would.

How will my child benefit?

Every child comes to kinesiology at a different starting point. Therefore every child will receive benefits particular to their story. As a parent you will benefit with: more peace and calm in the house, less time spent on worrying and more time spent on loving.
Common benefits include:

Less aggression, better able to deal with anger and frustration.

Some children find it hard to express negative emotions. If they haven’t found an acceptable way to show their anger you may be used to seeing and hearing outbursts that seem like huge over-reactions. They may not even realise there is another better way to express themselves. They will also be less teary and better able to communicate feelings and needs This gives them the ability to be more able to let go of things that don’t go their way.

Calmer, more focused, better able to concentrate.

Because these activities promote brain activity, it will be easier for your child to think. They will develop a better memory and start to enjoy learning giving benefits in reading, writing and maths.

Fewer and reduced reactions to foods and other allergens.

The healing will strengthen and fine-tune their immune system. Knowing what foods or products to avoid gives your child a huge headstart when dealing with allergies.

Better sleep.

Ever noticed how you sleep much better when you feel really relaxed? It’s the same with children. The whole experience is geared towards reducing stress levels in your child.

Improved co-ordination, better balance, improved sporting performance.

Brain integration is really important for all these things. Both fine motor skills and gross motor skills can improve.

Please note that Kinesiolgists do not treat, diagnose, or prescribe.  If you or your child has any serious health concern be sure to consult your GP.
